RentLito is an accommodation marketplace that has facilitated the booking of over 30 000 nights across 8 000 available beds on the platform. We worked as a full product team, including developers, designers, a product owner, and a QA specialist. My initial responsibility was full-stack development of key features, which over time evolved into full accountability over the project as a Tech Lead. Despite being part of a corporate environment, the project was carried out within a business unit with a high degree of autonomy, resembling the agility of a startup.
Challenges
The project aimed to address a major challenge in the temporary employment sector: the lack of a streamlined, scalable solution for housing large numbers of workers. The platform has been initially built with a full-code approach which caused the project to suffer from long iteration times and high infrastructure costs. The development team at the time was not sufficiently alligned with business needs which lead to misaligned expectations and results unfit for delivery to customers.
Solutions
By creating a centralized, automated platform, our team significantly improved the efficiency of the accommodation booking process. We have introduced low-code technology which enabled us to deliver faster interations while maintaining all the complex logic required to engineer the nessecary features. I have lead the team to establish close relationship with business representatives which caused improved alligment with real world users’ needs.
Outcome
RentLito is the go-to platform for employment agencies looking to find reliable accommodation and property owners to discover a new approach to let. We’ve reduced the time to market of subsequent releases over 60% compared to previous full-code attempts. Our efforts led to improved partnership with business and operations teams leading to more relevant and actionable feedback.
